March 12, 2020

Having had the honor and privilege of serving the citizens of Hillsborough County as Sheriff for almost eighteen years and serving in New Hampshire law enforcement for over forty years, today I am announcing that I will not be a candidate for re-election as Hillsborough County Sheriff in 2020.

I will always be grateful to the county's citizens for supporting my election and re-election efforts over the span of nine terms of office as Hillsborough County Sheriff.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the men and women at the Office of the Hillsborough County Sheriff for their dedication to duty and hard work while carrying out our duties and responsibilities. Our administrative support staff, court officers, dispatchers, sheriff's deputies, and command staff carry out our mandated duties in a professional manner, while maintaining dignity and respect for the citizens we serve.

I am proud of our work and what we have accomplished.

In addition to our primary duties, our force of deputies, all state-certified police officers, have actively participated in a number of initiatives that directly impact the quality of life for the citizens of Hillsborough County. Some of these include:

  • Efforts to fight the ongoing scourge of the opioid crisis facing our region and state by active participation in the New England High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, in conjunction with the NH Drug Task Force and the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
  • Implementation of the HCSO Street Crime Task Force by partnering with a number of our local law enforcement agencies to combat property crimes and related illegal narcotics activity that directly impact the quality of life in our neighborhoods across the county.
  • Active HCSO participation in the US Marshal's Fugitive Task Force,  which target dangerous and violent felony level offenders, extending our reach nationwide.
  • Providing vital assistance to our state and local law enforcement partners during emergencies and critical incidents across the state.

I will always be grateful to the citizens of Hillsborough County for the honor of serving as the twenty-eighth Sheriff of Hillsborough County. Thank you.
